A lot of pets don't deal well with major changes like moving. So we were very relieved and pleased when Sherlock not only made it all the way to our new house without pooping in the car, but also seemed to love this new place right away.
Because the two places were such a short distance apart, we actually left him at our old place for a couple of hours while the movers unloaded everything into the new house. So by the time we brought him over, his new home was a city of boxes.
It has lots of rooms, closets, nooks and crannies to discover. Particularly while our stuff is still all over the place.
Every time I unpack a box and move it out of the way, there's even more to investigate.
And did I mention his new cat tree?
And a great lookout spot in the kitchen?
Yes, Sherlock is very happy here indeed. As are we.
In which some fleeting thoughts (and sometimes baked goods) become pixels on your screen.

Cat-related business: cat calls
For a creature with a walnut-sized brain, Sherlock is quite adept at communicating with us. When he first moved in, he was pretty quiet, but as he's settled in, he's become a lot more vocal. I've also gotten pretty good at translating:
Mmmmah! = Good morning!
Mmrh = Run away! (Because mommy is a pretend monster)
Miao? MIAO! Mmmiaaooooowwwwwooo! = Let me out! I know you're leaving and I want to come... (This is when he is the most vocal)
(High-pitched whimper) Miao? = Pleeease let me out?
MrrOW = Come play with me!
Prrrrrrr = Mmm, dinner... OR Mmm, snuggles:

Cat-related business: naptime
Boy, does Sherlock sleep a lot.
Hmm. It's 1:00 AM. Perhaps I should take his lead.

Cat-related business: dinner
I have a cat. His name is Sherlock.
The only pets my husband and I ever owned growing up were fish. I was never much of an animal person. His parents didn't particularly cats; my mother downright hated them. We even surprised ourselves by deciding to get a cat. We decided it would be nice to have a companion but we never even imagined the endless smiles he'd give us.
I must say, for a creature with a walnut-sized brain, he sure is persistent. Particularly when it comes to dinner time.

| What if I sit here? I KNOW the food is in there! |
